Job Advert: Communications & Public Engagement Intern


World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice.


The East Africa Regional Office, operating in nine countries of East Africa namely; Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda is looking for a Communications interns to work in its Nairobi office.


We’re looking for a Communications Intern to support the team with development of communications resources for internal and public engagement.


The Communications intern will work with the World Vision East and Southern Africa communication team on production of quality resources including video and photographs to be utilized for digital and print materials for donor and public engagement.


Responsibilities:


The intern will:



  • Support in the development and design of digital, web, and print marketing materials;

  • Provide both technical and editorial digital support in developing and updating content;

  • Community management on Facebook and Twitter;

  • Utilizing online metrics tools (such as Google Analytics) to report on statistics for social media sites;

  • Create concepts and ideas to visually communicate our brand and goals for the organisation;

  • Video production and editing;

  • Presentation and report development and design, including PowerPoint;

  • Assist with other tasks as needed.


Period of internship: January 2020 – December 2020


Qualifications Required:



  • Experience in multimedia, marketing, desktop design, journalism, media and/or communication industry

  • Preferred experience in graphic design and use of graphic design software. The Intern should ideally know how to use a mix of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop at an advanced level.

  • Education qualifications in marketing, communications, journalism, media, graphic design

  • Sharp sense of graphic design and digital media trends

  • Excellent analytical skills to translate complex ideas into understandable, attention-grabbing information

  • Experience with Final Cut Pro or equivalent video editing a plus;

  • Understanding of and experience using Google analytics;

  • Strong English writing skills

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and manage multiple assignments to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the confidence to interact effectively with staff at all levels;

  • Knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, Typo3, FileMaker is an advantage.


Languages: Excellent oral and written English.


Location: Nairobi, Kenya


This internship offers a chance to work in a team of very experienced communication and external engagement experts and thus ideal for a creative, energetic young professional who is eager to learn.


A small monthly stipend will be offered.
