Tech challenge: The platform is set to continuously evolve with new features, new product verticals, new technologies and into new markets whilst simultaneously scaling  in usage thus providing a dynamic and mutually challenging and fulfilling requirement of our tech team. We are seeking a back end engineer keen on building world class solutions to join our engineering team.

Job Opportunity – What you will do

• Create and maintain optimal data pipelines.


• Develop code and processes to extract data from diverse sources, transforming into suitable formats into analytical data warehouses using a combination of SQL, Big Query, Elastic Search, etc.


• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvement tools such as for automating manual processes and optimizing data delivery.


• Build solutions for reliability, scalability, availability, and performance.


• Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.


• Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.


• Contribute to the development of data tools for the analytics and data science teams to assist them in decision making and product optimisation.

Essential Qualities

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering or another relevant discipline(computer science, computer engineering, electrical/electronic engineering, etc) with 3+ years relevant post-education experience.


• Strong hands-on experience with SQL and databases including querying and database design for analytics


• Proficiency in Python programming


• Experience in data engineering, preferably in an analytics or machine-learning environment


• Experience building and optimizing data pipelines and architectures with a variety of technologies


• Hands-on experience with data transformation and cleaning.


• Strong project management and organizational skills.


• Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.


• Strong critical reasoning skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently


• Basic proficiency with working with Unix-based virtual machines on cloud platforms such as EC2..

Desirable Skills and Qualities

• Knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable ‘big data’ data stores such as Apache Kafka, PySpark, AWS Kinesis, etc.


• Experience with schemaless database stores and in-memory databases


• Strong technical understanding of various big data technologies.


• Experience with data flow orchestration tools such as Airflow, Google Cloud Composer, dbt, AWS Lambda, etc.


• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.


• Familiarity or willingness to learn basic devops principles.

Recruitment Process

• CV Shortlisting: Applications are read by our recruitment specialists to shortlist candidates.


• 30 minute Google Meet interview: These will be with a recruiter and then with either the hiring manager or peer on the team, and are designed to assess key skills you’ll need for the role.


• Technical assessment:: This could range from prepping a case study to providing writing or code samples, and helps us understand how you think and approach problems.


• Post-assessment interview: Successful candidates who excel in the test are invited for final interview before decisions are made.


• Decision and offer: After your interviews are done, we’ll bring everything together from your application and interviews and review it.
