Vacancy Advertisement: Workshop Technician – Hospitality

We are seeking to recruit a:

Workshop Technician – Hospitality

The purpose of this position is to receive and issue materials, control of equipment, control of requisitions, student mentoring and other duties in liaison with the University’s overall goal.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Department- Hospitality and Tourism, the position holder will be responsible for the following, amongst others:

• Maintain workshop equipment and facilities and ensure all workshops are under lock and key when not in use.


• Maintain an update workshop inventory on a monthly basis or when need be, to ensure proper track of workshop resources;


• Maintain a clean, tidy and safe workshop area;


• Advising the department on whether continued operation and use of the available equipment, tools and machines could be hazardous in an effort to promote safety;


• Keep a record of breakages/ lost items;


• Ensuring cost cutting by checking the weekly requisitions;


• Assisting in the development of learning materials, preparing practicum schedules;


• Supervise or assist with supervision of any practical projects undertaken by the students;


• To accompany students on field trips and educational visits;


• Assisting new students to settle down in the university, the branch department and the subject area;


• Providing sufficient information to prospective and existing clients, in regard to Zetech University.

Qualification Requirements

• Diploma in Hospitality Management or Diploma in Food and Beverage Management or a Diploma in Catering and Accommodation Management;


• At least (2) years’ working experience in a related field.

Qualities & Skills

• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.


• Good customer service skills;


• Commitment to continuous professional development;


• Proven record of ability to manage time and work to strict deadlines;


• Ability to work well within a team.
