Vacancy Announcement: Quantitative Field Interviewers for The SHOFCO – MANITOU Study


The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is an African-led and Africa based international research institute committed to conducting high quality and policy relevant multidisciplinary research.


Our research addresses important development issues and challenges facing sub-Saharan Africa in areas such as education, population, health, aging, urbanization and wellbeing.


Our goal is to generate evidence for meaningful action, engage with policy makers in the region to disseminate our research findings, influence policy decisions, and improve the quality of life in Africa.


The APHRC invites applications for Quantitative Field Interviewers in its SHOFCO-MANITOU study.


The study aims to generate new evidence to support the optimization and scale-up of the SHOFCO water supply model and to identify avenues for future global health research in Kibera.


Duties & Responsibilities


1. Recruit study participants who meet the eligibility criteria.


2. Mobilize study participants.


3. Consent study participants.


4. Conduct survey interviews and structured observations.


5. Write and submit comprehensive notes of interviews and observations.


6. Ensure that data is of high quality.


7. Participate in resolving queries as they arise.


8. Participate in weekly team meetings.


9. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor, project manager, or the principal investigator.


Minimum Qualifications


1. Have completed secondary education and possess a minimum grade C Plain in KCSE.


2. Be a resident of Kibera, preferably from Gatwekera, Lindi and Kisumu Ndogo villages.


3. Have proven experience in data collection using electronic data capture methods.


4. Proficient in English and Kiswahili languages (verbal and written).


5. Experience in conducting quantitative data collection.


6. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report writing skills.


7. Must be fully available for the training and during the entire data collection period (approximately 1 month).


8. Flexible and available to work during the odd hours (when necessary) under minimum supervision.
