Job Description
An Agri-processing company based in Machakos, is seeking to recruit a focused and results driven Chief Agronomist to provide leadership, expertise and advice in custom designing agronomic service programs for the company.
The incumbent will play a pivotal role in managing field production scale-up and acreage expansion of out-grower projects, working with company contracted growers.
In addition, the incumbent will work towards establishing company-owned and managed farms.
As the Senior Field agronomist, they will be responsible for the programing of multiple crops production in multiple geographic regions and manage the team of agronomists to ensure crop production in all our projects meet the projected targets
The suitable candidate for this role must have the following qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Horticulture or related course
- At least 8 years’ experience in a similar role
- Knowledge of safe and effective use of pesticides.
- Knowledge of Integrated Crop and Pest Management.
- Working knowledge of agronomic and food safety standards e.g. Global GAP, ISO FSSC 22000, BRC, HACCP, Organic Farming
- Experience in production of horticultural products, or a quality assurance or food safety function within the fruit and vegetable industry.
