Position Title: Supply Chain Lead (Pharmacist)


Project: USAID Stawisha Pwani


Location: Mombasa / Kilifi / Kwale / Taita Taveta


Reports to: Deputy Chief of Party


Background: The Center for International Health, Education and Biosecurity (CIHEB)-Kenya is a local non-governmental organization collaborating with the Ministry of Health and County Health Management Teams to strengthen health systems for improved quality of health care in Kenya.


CIHEB-Kenya is seeking to recruit candidates for the USAID Stawisha Pwani project.


The USAID Stawisha Pwani project is a 5-year Kenya Health Partnerships for Quality Services (KHPQS) project to be implemented in four coastal counties of Kilifi, Kwale, Mombasa and Taita Taveta.


The aim of the project is to increase the use of quality county-led health services by strengthening county health systems with a focus on HIV Prevention & Treatment, FP/ RMNCAH and Nutrition.


The program aims to support the four county governments toward sustainability in quality and systems of health services.


Overall Job Summary: The supply Chain Lead (Pharmacist) PWID program is responsible for Methadone dispensing ensuring that all the policies and guidelines are followed, Capacity builds and mentors the pharmaceutical technologist working under her/his supervision and is responsible for reporting.


Specific Responsibilities


a. Provide overall leadership to the pharmacy staff in the MAT Clinics.


b. By use of innovative training methodologies, adapt curricula to support trainings at MAT clinics.


c. Organize and facilitate in various CPDs and evaluate impact of training activities and share recommendations


d. Conduct trainings targeting the MAT pharmacy staff on forecasting commodity needs, procurement, tracking inventory and monitoring pharmaceutical commodities within the MAT Clinics.


e. Will be involved in establishing a framework through which continued mentorship can take place.


f. Participate in the development and implementation of a strategy for local management of Methadone Maintenance therapy


g. Serve as a member of the Harm reduction TWG and MAT linkage forum as needed.


h. Collect, analyze, and oversee data entry on relevant quality performance indicators.


i. Monitor and evaluate appropriateness of facility quality control plans and practices.


j. Design, schedule and conduct quality review audits as appropriate to the facility or service; performs or coordinates chart and/or other medical record reviews and records and/or abstracts specific relevant data as appropriate.


k. Generate and/or coordinate the development of various reports regarding performance against quality indicators, as appropriate to the individual position.


Qualifications and Requirements:


a. Bachelor in Pharmacy.


b. Current registration with Pharmacy and Poisons Board


c. More than 5 years’ hands on experience in a similar position with a USG funded project. Experiences working with People who inject drugs is an added advantage.


d. Professional training in Public Health or Supply Chain Management is an added advantage.


e. Knowledge of quality control practices and procedures within a hospital, patient care, or registry environment.
