Kitui County is located 170Km to the South East of Nairobi City. It covers an area of about 30,496 km2. It borders Machakos and Makueni Counties to the West, Tana River County to the East, Taita-Taveta County to the South, and Embu and Tharaka- Nithi Counties to the North. it is about two and half hours’ drive from Nairobi and 30 minutes flight by a chopper. Population: 1,147,200 Female: 602,002 Male: 545,195 Growth Rate: 2.1% The Kitui Vision for Economic and Social Transformation Following its mandate as a County, The County Government of Kitui developed this long-term development blue print, “Kitui Vision for economic and social transformation” aimed at guiding its economic and social development for the next ten years up to the year 2025. The envisaged County long-term development blue print covers the economic and investment zones which were endorsed by stakeholders in November 2013.

Requirements for Appointment

1. Served in the grade of Assistant Director, Information Communication Technology for a minimum of three (3) years;


2. Bachelor’s degree in any of the following: Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Commerce, Physics or any other ICT related discipline with a bias in information communication technology from a recognized Institution;


3. Master’s degree in Computer Science or any other ICT related discipline from a recognized Institution;


4. attended a Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized Institution; and


5. Demonstrated a high degree of competence in identifying, designing and monitoring information technology projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Ensuring the implementation of ICT Projects;


2. Adherence to standards and procedures for ICT systems development projects;


3. Providing guidelines and advice to ICT Project managers;


4. Periodic review of projects systems and procedures and recommending improvements;


5. Initiating policy review and updating of existing regulations on computing management including drawing of computer specifications for equipment and services; and


6. Ensuring adherence enforcement of all regulations, procedures and practices on computing management in all County Government Ministries/Departments.
