The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) is a constitutional body established under Article 59 of the Constitution of Kenya and Section 3 of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights Act No 14 of 2011 (revised) 2012. It has the core mandate to develop a culture of Human Rights through the promotion and protection of rights and fundamental freedoms in the Republic of Kenya.


The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) is an independent National Human Rights Institution created under Article 59 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and established by the Government of Kenya through an Act of Parliament (the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights Act, 2011) and in accordance with the United Nations Principles relating to the Status of National Institutions (Paris Principles). KNCHR’s mandate includes furthering the protection and promotion of human rights in Kenya, acting as a watchdog over the Government in the area of human rights, and the provision of Leadership in moving the country towards a human rights respecting state. KNCHR fulfils its human rights mandate through five Directorates including: Complaints and Investigations, Research, Advocacy and Outreach, Legal Services, Regional Services and Corporate Services. The Commission has offices in Nairobi, Wajir, Kitale, Mombasa, Kisumu and Nyahururu.


KNCHR invites applications from industrious, honest and self-driven individuals with relevant qualifications to fill One (1) Driver position in the Nairobi Office:


 


Position: DRIVER  Reference Number: KNCHR/ADM/DRV/05/2021 -Open


Duration:  Permanent and Pensionable


Duty Station: Nairobi


Gross Salary: Kshs. 37,666.00


 


Job Objective:


This position is responsible for the facilitation of movement of the Commission staff to the respective destination is done in a safe manner by use of designated routes, locked vehicles at all times, observation of speed limits, passenger use of safety belt as per the Commission’s travel policy.


 


Key Duties:



  1. Facilitate the transfer of Commission staff to field activities on time and in a safe and reliable manner.

  2. Pick and drop official Commission visitors and staff, to and from airport and take them to their required destination.

  3. the Administration Officer of due motor vehicle insurance and the Senior Driver/ Mechanic of due mechanical service of all Commission vehicles.

  4. Ensure the cleanliness of the Commission vehicle at all times, carry out routine basic Driver/Mechanic.

  5. Ensure a work ticket is produced and approved before taking up any assignment and Officer.

  6. Observe defensive driving skills at all times during transfers to ensure fuel efficiency and forecast potential hazards a head and avoid the said hazard.

  7. Collect assignment schedules from Administration Officer and carry out official errands such as payments of utilities bills, collects and delivers mails and collect approved visas on behalf of commission staff.

  8. Assist in basic support functions of Office administration i.e. photocopies, binding and filing when in the office, pending a transfer assignment.



Key Qualifications and Competencies:




  1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (D+) or equivalent grade and a Valid BCE Driving Licence

  2. Computer literacy.

  3. Knowledge of major towns in Kenya.

  4. Knowledge of relevant legislation (Traffic Act).

  5. Good Communication and Interpersonal skills.

  6. Good Organizational and Problem solving skills.

  7. Ability to work under pressure.

  8. Ability to work well with teams.

  9. Compliance with chapter six of the constitution.
