We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated visionary and results oriented candidate to fill in the below positions:

Head of Biomedical

Ref No. OP/BM/08/2021

Overall Purpose: The position holder is responsible for the effective implementation of the strategic objectives of the hospital, through short and long range planning for the entire Hospital Biomedical facilities, equipment’s, processes and other resources needed to support hospital programs and initiative

Key responsibilities:

• Ensuring optimal functioning of Biomedical equipment/facilities.


• Formulate and arrange plans for planned, routine preventive maintenance and repairs of biomedical equipment.


• Formulate the departmental budget, monitor financial performance, identify and implement strategies to control costs and meet established productivity and quality standards


• Maintains efficient and effective department operations while ensuring compliance with the regulatory laws, standards and protocols.


• Supervises and trains hospital staff in the approved practices and procedures of proper biomedical equipment. maintenance and in the implementation and observance of all approved safety procedures to ensure compliance with existing safety regulations.


• Plan for and ensure calibration and verification of the performance of key medical equipment.


• Liaising with departments to roll out the maintenance schedule.


• Maintaining job cards for each job assigned, PPM schedules and tasks as performed.


• To provide technical advice to the hospital on specification and technological viability of the medical equipment to be procured, technical specification for spare parts, consumables and materials required.


• Evaluate the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of biomedical equipment.


• Ensure Hospital Biomedical functions comply with medical, certification, legal and safety standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• Degree and/or Higher National Diploma in Bio-Medical Engineering.


• Must have atleast 3yrs Management experience in a Biomedical facility


• 8 years’ experience in medical equipment maintenance preferably in a hospital.


• Good organizational, problem solving and interpersonal skills


• Be registered by the Association of Medical Engineering of Kenya


• Knowledge in Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing equipment’s is an added advantage


• Self-motivated and quick to take initiative
