Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) invites applications from qualified candidates for the following position:


Job Title: Human Resource and Admin Officer


One (1) Position


Reference: HR/7/HRAO/2021/41


Grade: KP/6


Basic Salary Scale: Kshs. 104,080 – 146,814 p.m.

Supervisor: Senior Human Resource and Admin Officer


Supervisory Responsibilities: Senior Human Resource Assistant


Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) is a state corporation established by an Act of parliament – KIPPRA Act No. 15 of 2006, with a primary mandate of providing quality policy advice to the Government of Kenya, and other key stakeholders by conducting policy research and analysis and through capacity building, in order to contribute to the achievements of national long term development objectives.


Position Summary / Purpose: To develop and implement the Human Resource management policies in the Institute; manage staff recruitment, selection, induction and placement; staff deployment in conjunction with the technical departments; manage staff payroll, leave and performance appraisal system; manage staff probation, confirmation, promotion and exit process; manage staff disciplinary process and grievances; administer staff medical scheme and welfare programmes; administer employment contracts, pensions and gratuities; and maintain the staff Establishment, employee records and human resource information systems


Key Responsibilities


(i) Administering the day-to-day operations of the human resource functions;


(ii) Preparing and maintain periodic operational reports through collecting and collating relevant information;


(iii) Participating in staff development activities through facilitating orientation and training programmes;


(iv) Taking part in performance management by Monitoring and maintaining tracking systems as well as improving the systems when necessary;


(v) Participating in staff recruitment activities;


(vi) Enhancing employee satisfaction at the workplace by ensuring their safety, welfare and wellness-related matters are handled appropriately;


(vii) Maintaining relevant employee records by regularly updating them when necessary; and


(viii) Managing repairs and maintenance of KIPPRA’s facilities and equipment by ensuring the maintenance schedule is adhered to as well as necessary repairs are done in good time.


Qualifications


For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –


(i) Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;


(ii) Diploma in any of the following disciplines: – Human Resource Management, Human Resource Development or Industrial Relations, or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;


(iii) Affiliate member of relevant HR body;


(iv) Computer Skills; and


(v) Fulfil the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution.
