Our client is the NGO Sector within entrepreneurship ecosystem currently recruiting a Program Officer- Lead


The East Africa Chapter Program Officer’s day-to-day work involves a wide variety of tasks from engaging with local members, planning and managing events, updating the member database, and supporting other chapter activities as needed.


You might start the day responding to email requests from members who are looking for sector information and then hosting a check in meeting with a member. Immediately following those member activities, you are creating content gathered from the sector to use in a presentation you will create.


Each day will be different, and this role will provide a wide variety of skills development opportunities and exposure to topic areas throughout the small and growing business space in developing countries.


Position Description:


Day to day work involves a wide variety of tasks from member meetings to database updates, topic area research and event prep. Each day will be different, but this role will provide exposure to a wide variety of skills experience and topic areas throughout the small and growing business space in developing countries. Specific responsibilities include:



  • Leading and owning specific projects or initiatives, such as Learning Labs and programs from conception to implementation.

  • Building relationships with members and facilitating connections between the network

  • Scheduling of, and organizing meetings and networking events for members, as well as topic area webinars.

  • Serve as program representative, facilitator, and speaker at sector-specific events.

  • Support in any other role and tasks as needed.


The work routine involves a mix of in-office hours, work from home and external events. Flexible hours and remote work to enable communications with our international staff and members in other time zones is often needed.


This role involves some travel within East Africa.


Qualifications:


The ideal candidate for this role:



  • Has 3-5 years of experience working in a similar role

  • Has worked in the entrepreneurial ecosystem and has good knowledge of it

  • Is resourceful, proactive and excited to learn and take on new challenges

  • Excellent attention to detail is essential

  • Project management experience preferable

  • Confident in public speaking and facilitation

  • Is organized, goal-oriented, proactive and excels at handling multiple priorities at once

  • Is a true team player and is excited about engaging with many cultures and learning about the entrepreneurship sector

  • Thrives in a small team and startup environment, where the duty is on you to make it work.


Requirements:



  • Bachelor’s degree required, preference will be given to those with Master’s degree or have background in entrepreneurship or the social impact space.

  • Able to travel up to 15% of the time within the region and internationally.

  • Fluency in English is required.
