Our client in the manufacturing industry is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and confident individual with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and MUST be based in Mombasa to fill in the following position:

Credit Controller

Job Summary: Reporting to the Chief Accountant, the overall purpose of this role is to manage the credit control department including debt collection activities and negotiation of repayments plans with clients in line with the credit-control policy and the Company’s objectives

Main Responsibilities of Job

• Review and continuously update credit control policies and procedures in line with best practices and industry trends;


• Develop and ensure implementation of robust admission and discharge transfer procedures in line with the credit-control policy;


• Negotiate repayments plans with clients, ensure debtors account management and monitor repayments patterns to put in place remedial actions to ensure optimal debt settlement;


• Prepare and submit periodic cash flow budgets to the finance manager;


• Champion customer service excellence in the department and manage relationships with key debtors to ensure efficient debt collection and settlement;


• Supervise day to day credit management activities in the department to ensure optimal debt collection;


• Handle disputed bills with the clients and negotiate the repayments for the disputed bills for optimal debt settlement;


• Ensure period debtors accounts reconciliation and timely dispatch of client statements in line with established guidelines;


• Attend to internal and external credit control correspondences and queries promptly;


• Prepare and review daily, monthly and yearly reports including management reports, aging analysis, collection report, written off reports, disputed reports any other ad-hoc reports in line with requirement;


• Participate in the development and review of services level agreements and contracts of the 3rd party for corporates clients in liaison with corporate schemes department; and


• Prepare and monitor implementation of the departmental budget to ensure proper utilization;

Key Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or other business-related fields from a recognized institution;


• Must be a qualified accountant with relevant professional qualifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K) or ACCA; and


• Minimum of five (5) years in credit management/credit control and at least two years in supervisory level.

• Must demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimum supervision;


• Must be a team player who can work cordially in teams;


• Must demonstrate the ability to multitask;


• Must demonstrate commitment to operational effectiveness;


• Should have the ability to solve problems by applying relevant business knowledge;


• Should demonstrate professional expertise in the relevant work area;
