Quantitative Field Interviewers for the Calculus of Sex Research Project in Kenya


The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is an international non-profit, non-governmental organization that carries out policy relevant research on population, health, education and development issues facing sub-Saharan Africa.


APHRC invites applications for quantitative field Interviewers, in its Calculus of Sex research project, being conducted in Mombasa and Bungoma Counties.


The main aim of the project is to assess the effect of the MSK project intervention aimed at reducing unplanned adolescent and teenage pregnancy and school dropout rates in Bungoma and Mombasa County in Kenya.


Minimum qualifications: Quantitative Field Interviewer



  • Must have a completed secondary education and possess a minimum grade C in KCSE

  • Candidates with a background in social studies, education, or social work preferred

  • Experience in quantitative data collection. Experience in qualitative data collection is a plus

  • Experience working with students

  • Experience with electronic data collection

  • Must be fully available throughout the data collection period and able to work in the data collection sites, i.e. Mombasa or Bungoma

  • Ability to speak Kiswahili and the local languages (i.e. Luhya )

  • Previous engagement with APHRC will be an added advantage


The successful candidates will be expected to:



  • Conduct interviews on all recruited study participants

  • Complete, edit and submit all assigned interviews for cross-checking and verification by the supervisor on a daily basis.

  • Keep updated records and databases of assigned work.

  • Regularly file reports on project activities.

  • Review the collected data to ensure all questions are completed prior to online submission.

  • Data collection progress report writing.

  • Meeting the team leader on regular basis to submit progress updates.

  • Following-up with participants for missing responses or to correct any inaccurate responses.

  • Any other related activity assigned by the project coordinator during the contract period.
