Exciting Career Opportunity in Financial Services: Senior Legal Officer

Role Overview: Our client is a leading non deposit taking Credit Company with an enviable brand presence across the country.

As the company grows in size and product portfolio, it seeks to strengthen its legal function by hiring a Senior Legal Officer.

A business savvy, detail oriented, hands on, self driven, result oriented and growth focused individuals will be ideal for the role.

Position Summary

Job title: Senior Legal Officer

Department: Legal Services

Salary Range: Gross of Kshs 80,000-100,000 plus other benefits

Reports to: Managing Director

Location: Nairobi

Number of Positions: One (1) Position

Placement: Immediate

Key Role Accountabilities (Duties and Responsibilities)

• Lead and manage all legal and related matters within the company.


• Review and approve all drafted all contracts/Agreements


• Lead the negotiation of contracts with third parties


• Ensuring legal department stays current by conducting legal research, Monitoring legislation changes and advising the management on the same.


• Visiting different registries to follow up on sticky matters and unlocking them.


• Leading litigation matters on behalf of the company.


• Act as the lead in attesting/witnessing the company’s documents.


• Participate in clearing clients and releasing Title Documents for cleared debts.


• Performing other legal tasks as assigned from time to time.

Person Specification (Qualifications, Experience and Skills)

• Holder of a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognized tertiary institution;


• Be a member of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK)


• Possession of at least 5 years experience in a financial institution/microfinance/ credit company either in legal or debt recovery departments.


• Very clear understanding of legal matters.


• Conversant with Conveyancing and litigation.
