Kitui County is located 170Km to the South East of Nairobi City. It covers an area of about 30,496 km2. It borders Machakos and Makueni Counties to the West, Tana River County to the East, Taita-Taveta County to the South, and Embu and Tharaka- Nithi Counties to the North. it is about two and half hours’ drive from Nairobi and 30 minutes flight by a chopper. Population: 1,147,200 Female: 602,002 Male: 545,195 Growth Rate: 2.1% The Kitui Vision for Economic and Social Transformation Following its mandate as a County, The County Government of Kitui developed this long-term development blue print, “Kitui Vision for economic and social transformation” aimed at guiding its economic and social development for the next ten years up to the year 2025. The envisaged County long-term development blue print covers the economic and investment zones which were endorsed by stakeholders in November 2013.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

1. Served in the grade of Senior Information Communication Technology Officer Job group ‘L’ or in an equivalent and relevant position in the Public Service for a minimum period of three (3) years;


2. Bachelor’s degree in any of the following: Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Commerce, Physics or any other ICT related discipline with a bias in information communication technology from a recognized Institution;


3. shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results; and


4. Demonstrated professional ability, initiative and competence in organizing and directing work.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities at this level will involve:

1. Coordinating systems analysis, design and programme specifications;


2. Ensuring timely implementation and effective maintenance of systems;


3. Developing reports on ICT standards;


4. Supervising overall systems documentation;


5. Taking charge of Information Communication Technology equipment maintenance;


6. Preparing progress reports of the Information Communication Technology equipment maintenance;


7. Evaluating and recommending on the suitability of Information Communication Technology equipment;


8. Training of Information Communication Technology Hardware personnel and users;


9. Designing Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN); and


10. Preparing staff performance reports.
