Job Title: Construction Project Manager

Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Reporting to: General Manager – Construction

Budget: 100 – 150K

Job Purpose

The Construction Project Manager will play the lead role in planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing projects. He will liaise with CRM and Sales to ensure complete customer satisfaction. The Project Manager is accountable for the entire project scope, project team, resources, and the success or failure of the project.

Summary of key areas of responsibility:

Project Management, Planning, Executing, Monitoring & Control, Closing and Handover

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers, architects etc. to determine the specifications of the project


• Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements


• Obtain permits and licenses from appropriate authorities


• Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations


• Plan all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met


• Acquire equipment and material and monitor stocks to timely handle inadequacies


• Hire contractors and other staff and allocate responsibilities


• Supervise the work of laborers, mechanics etc. and give them guidance when needed


• Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports


• Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues


• Human resource management: Selecting, developing, and managing the project team


• Stakeholder management: Managing all stakeholder expectations


• Costs management: Controlling project costs


• Quality management: Controlling the quality of deliverables


• Communications management: Controlling all team and stakeholder communications


• Integration management: Closing all phases of the project


• Procurement management: Closing all project procurements


• Project Handover: Handing over the project with checklist ticked successfully closed.

  Qualifications

• Diploma in Building/Construction from an accredited institution


• 5+ years of project management and related experience in construction heavy projects


• Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle with Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline


• Excellent knowledge of construction operations and equipment, electrical and hydraulic systems knowledge is an advantage


• Familiarity with construction blueprints


• Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices


• Strong communication skills


• Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful


• Good time-management skills with the Ability to multi-task


• Excellent analytical skills, Critical-thinker and creative problem-solver
