Job Vacancy: HR Associate (Graduate Trainee)


Job Summary: Responsible for performing HR-related duties at a professional level and works closely with the HR Business Partner and management in supporting designated clients.


The individual must possess relevant experience in HR with a minimum internship exposure.


Key Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Participate in developing HR strategies that are fit for growth and meet changing business and people needs for assigned clients

  • Participate in process improvements for HR processes for assigned clients and support implementation

  • Participate in the annual people survey to assess the effectiveness of people operations and seek employee feedback on improvement and progress areas.

  • Participate in the recruitment cycle – develop/review existing job descriptions, competency framework in preparation for a job advert. Screen longlists for the purpose of shortlisting and interviewing candidates. Prepare interview reports and contracting.

  • Onboard new hires – Liaise with internal teams to create company accounts and lead the onboarding process.

  • Facilitate the performance review process in line with the strategic objectives – Research and advice on leading practice methods and potential improvement areas

  • Review and update existing job descriptions in line with changing roles and responsibilities and update changes in the organization chart as and when they occur

  • Participate in the development, review and implementation of HR policies (employee handbook and code of conduct policy)

  • Maintain updated employee records in digital/electronic format in line with company policy

  • Respond to employee requests/queries, potential issues (e.g. grievances) and respond in a timely manner.

  • Coordinate employee training and development initiatives based on the annual training calendar and personal development plans.

  • Process monthly payroll – Maintain accurate records and prepare reports for payroll and leave management

  • Stay up-to-date and comply with changes in labour legislation

  • Conduct exit interviews

  • Serve as a point of contact with vendors and suppliers

  • Support and respond to all internal and external HR related inquiries or requests.

  • Research on assigned HR topics for content roll out to various platforms.


Key Requirements:



  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Social sciences or any other relevant field.

  • Minimum internship experience in a busy work environment

  • For fresh graduates with internship experience, one must have attained KCSE mean grade B- and second class upper division at University level.

  • IHRM Membership and CHRP preferred

  • Ability to handle multiple clients.

  • Problem Solving skills

  • Analytical and goal oriented

  • Demonstrable experience with HR metrics

  • Knowledge of labour legislation

  • Excellent people management skills

  • Full understanding of all HR functions

  • Strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills required.

  • Strong persuasion/negotiation skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and duties

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
